Father and daughter waiting for a bass to strike. Waiting is the toughest part about fishing. These fishing buddies did not have to wait long.

I was doing something thinking about my limited fly fishing ability...

“I think the learned fly fisherman (or woman) who can cast well is half magician and half physicist. They can take a length of flexible mono-filament tubing and change it to a fluid state with a simple movement of their arm.

As for me, I am part rookie and magician. How my fly gets from behind me to the water’s surface is a magical feat of ‘awkwardness’ and luck.

The hardest part about fishing is waiting for the fish to bite. Most times, the fish don't have to show up for a fishing moment to be remembered. Fishing can be great because of the people your share the moment with.

It would seem today's wet weather positively impacted the pike fishing on Lake Muskoka. For Gord, and his father-in-law, it meant landing a 6.1 lb and 5.1 lb pike respectively. The good news is that the bite was still on after these photos were submitted to Muskoka Outdoors. Great work guys and thanks for the photos!

Many thanks to Tom who sent me this photo of a muskie his father caught in the west arm of Lake Nippissing, Ontario. The 50-inch monster was caught on a 4-inch plastic swim bait. Wow!

The lake is still classified – but I have my people on it. Kevin caught this sweet 7.36 lb speckled trout in a ‘not too far from Huntsville’ lake. Awesome catch Kevin!
