Most Wanted Pic: Dinner Guests
A twelfth deer has been added to the Muskoka Outdoors ‘Most Wanted’ list photo contest. This Cobden, Ontario doe shares her meal with several turkeys .
This photo is a submission from, Jenn, in Cobden, Ontario. Jenn attached, with her entry, the following: “Just thought this was a cool pick with the doe and turkeys, but she’s bringing in some nice bucks!!!”
The Wait
The hardest part about fishing is waiting for the fish to bite. Most times, the fish don't have to show up for a fishing moment to be remembered. Fishing can be great because of the people your share the moment with.
Bear behind the camera
The explosion of game camera use in the outdoors has provided digital snapshots into the curious nature of wildlife. This week our cameras captured stills of a bear cub hiding behind a tree. Later, the same week, an adult black bear interacted with our game cameras with varied results. I am still waiting for that 'monster buck' to show up...

For a look at some other interesting game camera photos, consider following this link to my old blog location.
The doe, the fawns and the camera licker
Checked on our game cams today and it would seem does and/or fawns are the only deer we have been capturing photos of lately. The lack of buck photos is curious. Is it a timing thing or is it that they are just staying clear of the areas that our cameras are set-up in?
The bears are still very much interested in our cameras. The blurry photo below is 'up-close and personal' with a bear's face as he licks the entire camera. When we checked this camera, it's mouth and tongue slime had crusted and covered the camera case and lens. I could see impressions of the bear's taste buds. Absolutely sick!

Moon rise over Lake Muskoka
Those of us who spend evenings on Muskoka Lakes are often rewarded with more than fantastic sunrises or sunsets. A fishing moon stamps the end of a rewarding day and acts as a dock beacon on a return trip back. Thanks for this great Lake Muskoka photo Nigel!
Muddy water loon
An unusual close encounter with this loon in Northern Ontario. It had rained hard all night and by morning any blue hue in the water became muddy brown.

Bear Time
A friends sent these photos in to me about a couple of visitors they had at their home recently. The pictures and the email explain it best. Click on the photos for a bigger view.
Daniel says this about these photos, "I was talking to your Mom and told her about the bears in my yard and that I would send some pics. All of these were taken within 100 feet of my deck. Enjoy……Daniel"
The NEW Muskoka Outdoors
The Muskoka Outdoors Blog has landed at its new home! With a shiny new Content Management System (CMS) at the helm, it is my hope that I will be better able to promote the pursuits of fishing, hunting and conservation to a local and worldwide audience. Consider taking a look around and notifying me of any errors or navigation problems through my contact form here.
To quickly find where the blog is located on the NEW site follow this link.
Here are some answers to your questions that might arise as you look through the NEW location:
Where are all your old posts?
The simple answer is that they are still on the old blog site. I have tried numerous ways to import the 1000+ posts from the old location but the bottom line is that nothing worked perfectly. I have decided to bring over posts (over the next two weeks) that I feel will give the NEW site some of the character that existed at the old site. Think of this NEW location as a sequel to my old blog and so - it has started with a clean slate. I will keep updating the old site until advertising contracts are fulfilled.
Is the site 100% finished?
No. I am hoping to make minor site corrections as feedback begins to come in and as the transfer of 'key' posts from the old site begin to fill open spaces. Secondly, I am developing and Hunting and Fishing Directory component that will feature photos and information about hunting and fishing related business across North America. I expect this project to be completed by the end of February. If you would like to be added to the free directory -please contact me. Thirdly, a buy and sell section is almost completed. Finally, I am finalizing ad locations with an ad agency for anyone who would like to help support what I am doing here.
How do I submit a photo or story to your site?
I would love to consider posting your photo or story to my new site. If you have a hunting or fishing related picture or story please email them to me at: muskokaoutdoorsATgmail.com
How can I get a nice new shiny website for my hunting or fishing business?
I develop these kind of sites for other clients and I would be happy to discuss how I could provide you with a similar project. This is my 'other' job.
Thanks for visiting and your support over the years. I look forward to your comments.
